Known Issues and Workarounds for Durin's Folk and TU6

2025/11/21

Greetings!

Firstly, thank you to everyone who has reported issues they’ve experienced while playing Return to Moria and Durin’s Folk (DF) to our Support Team! The Dev Team is currently working on fixes for a number of issues and hopes to get them into the hands of players as soon as they can. We do not currently have a release date for a patch, but we’ll update our players as soon as we know more.

During investigations, RtM team members have found workarounds to help players in the interim. While we understand workarounds are not always ideal, our aim is to help as much as we can while we work on fixes for release. We’ve compiled a list below of known issues as well as workarounds we’ve found so far.

Please note: This is not a complete list of everything the team is working on, so if you don’t see the issue you’ve sent to the support team listed below, it does not mean it’s not in the queue to be fixed.

Frequently Reported Issues & Workarounds:

Issue: [Xbox, PS5] Player crashing when approaching a Bedroll in-game

Workaround: From the main menu select “Settings” and navigate to the “Gameplay Tab” from there. Switch the “Editable Text” from “Show Default Names Only” to “Show Custom Text”, save the settings, exit the menu and reload your save. See image below for setting location.

Issue: NPC Dwarves are missing / stuck in my save

Workaround: Leave the area for a few minutes then return to the Delving. If they are still missing, close your world and restart it and they should return.

Alternatively, if your NPC appears stuck, lost, or unable to return to normal please try the following:

  • Open your Rallystone or Delvestone.
  • Locate the name of the NPC in question, highlight them and select the withdraw option.
  • Confirm you wish for them to withdraw. They may vanish from view if they were stuck.
  • Open the Rallystone / Delvestone menu again and their name will now be listed under “Other Dwarves of the Company” at the bottom.
  • Choose the relocate option and select your preferred location (if you have more than one).
  • After confirming you wish to relocate them, the should now be in a save place, unstuck and ready to continue.

The team are also working on NPC pathing as well as other issues that can cause NPCs not to proceed through their daily cycle correctly (not completing work, cowering despite no threat, etc), this workaround may also help some of these instances.

Issue: Can’t select the Ring Story mission from the Expedition Table

Workaround: No known workarounds at the time. The team is working on a fix.

Issue: Meals remaining on the table, but cannot interact with them or clean them up

Workaround: Eventually the meal will clean up and in some cases players may be able to interact with the table after some time or after leaving the area and returning. Alternatively, players can also build a second meal table in the meantime.

Issue: Emissary is missing but his icon is still there.

Workaround: When the Emissary is missing or not interactable, he is not essential to the progression of the campaign. You may disable this waypoint marker from the map.

Issue: Game crashes when player has mods installed

Workaround: Disable mods to stop the crashing. Contact the mod creator to confirm if they intend to update it before attempting to use it again. While the team has no issues with the use of mods we can not support them. This is a frequent occurrence around major releases. We have received a number of recent issue reports that after investigating were found to be the result of installed mods.

Mods include anything added to your game that has been created by a third party. These can become incompatible after an update is released as it is up to the original creator of the mod to maintain and support them. When this incompatibility happens, it can cause unpredictable effects within your world regardless of the mod type. For example we’ve seen a simple translation a mod break the entire crafting system for a player following an update.

Please note that even if you do not have active mods installed, modded items / items acquired through mods can also impact your game if brought into your world. eg: oversize stacks of materials, items only available via mods, etc. These should also be removed to check if they're impacting your save.

Issue: There are reports of an NPC dwarf named “Citizen” - who you will notice spawns many duplicates on top of himself, which can create a very low framerate.

Workaround: Do not approach Citizen or try to recruit him - just leave him and his many duplicates alone in this location. Players may also wish to try quitting the game and reloading, which in some cases can replace him with a proper dwarf. The team is working on a fix.

Troubleshooting and Submitting a Ticket:

If you encounter any problems when playing, be it in the Base Game or the Durin’s Folk Expansion, please refer to our troubleshooting guides first: https://northbeachgames.freshdesk.com/support/solutions

If your issue is not covered by the troubleshooting guide, or persists after exploring those solutions, please contact our support team by submitting a ticket with as much information as possible, including…

  • Platform (Steam, Epic, PlayStation, Xbox)
  • Game version number (bottom left, main menu)
  • Seed number (top left, pause menu)
  • Were you playing Solo or Multiplayer when the issue occurred?
  • If playing Multiplayer, are you a host or client (someone who joined a game)?
  • If playing Multiplayer, were you playing on a Dedicated Server?
  • If playing Multiplayer, how many were playing with you?
  • Detailed description of the issue to the best of your ability
  • Under what conditions the issue seems to occur, if any. Can you recreate the issue if you follow certain steps?
  • What point of the Game / Expansion are you at (Specific Goal, Mission, etc)
  • Do you have any other DLC installed?
  • If this is a newly created save or a pre-existing one.
  • If playing on PC, what are the specs of the system you’re playing on?
  • If playing on PC, please include Logs and Save files. These files can typically be found at… C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Moria\Saved\Logs and C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Moria\Saved\SavedGames[Epic/Steam]. These help the team in their investigations and support will typically ask for them. Please make a copy and compress / zip the copied folders before attaching them to a report.
  • Any Screenshots / Clips you have can also be valuable. Please note, clips cannot be uploaded to our ticket system and will need to be hosted externally and linked.

Reminder: Please uninstall and remove all mods or mod related items (eg: large stacks) from your game and reload to ensure the issue is occurring without mods before sending your report. Our support team cannot help with support if you are using mods.

Other Known Issues List:

Please note, this is not a complete list as the team are continuing to investigate all reports submitted by players.

  • Tinted armor is shown as default color when given to an NPC
  • Items offered by the traders can remain highlighted, even when they aren’t purchasable
  • Cooks can travel back and forth between multiple cooking stations when there aren’t any materials available
  • Reviving a fallen NPC can cause them to display the incorrect status briefly
  • Certain NPC outfits and hats are not retaining their tints
  • Using a mapstone to travel to the Dimrill Dale causes stamina to deplete briefly
  • NPC interact prompts are visible from far distances
  • Aric’s in-world waypoint can be visible indefinitely
  • NPCs don’t always face the player when singing
  • In rare instances, building a hearth doesn’t remove all nearby grass or rocks
  • Singing while standing on stairs can cause minor animation issues for the Dwarf
  • In rare instances, the minimap outline may be visible on the loading screen
  • Durin’s Axe fragment search area Audio and Visual cues are missing in multiplayer
  • The Wanderer NPC can sometimes be missing from his assigned Delving, but this does not block progression
  • In rare instances NPCs can appear below the floor or be missing and marked ‘lost’ - in most cases this recovers by withdrawing the NPC from a delving and then reassigning them. It may also be solved by closing and loading the world.
  • In some cases NPCs will say they are blocked from their destination. It may be necessary to destroy and rebuild items like beds and crafting stations to better enable their routing.
  • NPCs may cower from enemies that are not a threat.
  • NPCs may have trouble continuing to work during work hours

Thank you again to everyone who reported issues so far. Should any more workarounds come to light, we will update this list asap. Please keep an eye on our socials and in the dev-updates section on our Discord for more immediate updates from our Team.
