A Message to the Community

2026/04/09
Thank you everyone for all the amazing entries into the “Unsung Heroes” Community Challenge, we've been gathering just some of our favourites into a community showcase blog (Coming Soon!).
Since we launched in October 2023, this community has grown into something we couldn't have anticipated. Your feedback shaped our updates like the Dwarves shaped Khazad-dûm - your creativity pushed the game beyond what we imagined and your support has helped RtM achieve much more than we thought possible in reaching its full potential.
For everyone involved, Return to Moria has been an incredible journey spanning 5 DLCs, a story expansion, a soundtrack, and countless updates over 2.5 years and across four platforms!
We would like to share a message from Free Range Games and the Game Director/Wandering Wizard, Jon-Paul Dumont:
Greetings everyone!
Once again, seeing your creations in the Unlikely Heroes Community challenge has been so fun! You create things in the game that frankly, we almost can't believe are possible. Besides your creativity, we wanted to take a moment to appreciate all the time you took to help us flag issues and report bugs. This dedication is yet another aspect of what makes this community truly special. With the release of the 1.6.7 update, we've addressed all of the most frequently flagged issues, resolved a significant number of bugs, and made additional quality of life improvements based on your feedback. At this point, we feel positive about the state of the game, and we certainly hope you do as well.
As is the nature of game development, myself and the team have shifted our focus elsewhere, so you may have noticed our team is appearing here less frequently.
It's been a wild, meaningful, and memorable two and a half years since launch, and we can't wait to see what else you have in store for us as you continue to rebuild Khazad-dûm.
Thank you again for your continued support!
A huge thank you to Jon-Paul and the entire Free Range Games team for making Return to Moria what it is today.
To clarify: Return to Moria is not going offline, the game isn’t going anywhere, and the North Beach community team will be here to support players and help as much as we can with any issues. Support is still available as well, just follow the links in #support-and-feedback on our Discord. While active development has concluded, any critical issues that affect the core experience will still be assessed by the team.
The NBG team may also occasionally share updates on our current and future projects, so you get all your info first hand!
Sometimes we dug too deep and sometimes not deep enough, but with you guys as our community we definitely struck a Mithril vein.

Khazâd dashkîn!
