Tolkien Reading Day carries a theme each year, set by the Tolkien Society. This year it was Unlikely Heroes. We thought Moria was full of them. So we asked the community to go looking.

They did not disappoint.

Choosing a selection was, genuinely, not easy. Each entry came with a life and story attached.
Please check out the thread if you haven't yet(and feel free to keep adding your own!).

The entries ranged from brewmasters and botanists to trolls with impeccable timing, and at the grandest end of the scale, the sun itself. Anar, whose light has petrified evil since the First Age.

*Frór's mighty Dimrill spear: long a trusted companion through the dark of Khazad-dûm.*

And then there are the Dwarves themselves. Miners, crafters and wanderers. Ordinary souls who answered an extraordinary call.
